Hunan Agricultural University (HUNAU), a key provincial university under the co-construction of Ministry of Agriculture of the People’s Republic of China and the People’s Government of Hunan Province, With a campus measuring 2.27 square kilometers and situated in Furong District of Changsha, it has been awarded the titles of “Outstanding Unit” in a national teaching evaluation carried out by the Ministry of Education. “HUNAU was formed in 1903, it was renamed Hunan Agricultural University in February of 1994. HUNAU has 21 colleges, 1 graduate college. It has established itself as a comprehensive agricultural university, entitled to award degrees in the fields of agriculture, engineering, liberal arts, sciences, economics, management, law, pedagogy, medicine and the arts. Currently, the university has 10 post-doctoral research stations, and it awards doctorates in 8 first-level disciplines, master's degrees in 18 first-level disciplines. It has 72 bachelor's degree programs, including 17 provincial distinctive majors, and 6 national distinctive majors. The field of the plant and animal science and agricultural science enter the global top 1% in ESI disciplines’ ranking. According to the Education Ministry’s third assessment of the discipline, 4 first level disciplines, including Crop science, Horticulture, Agricultural resource and environment, Zootechny, enter national top ten. At present, HUNAU has an academic staff of 1255, including 1 academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 4 Double hired academicians, 2 academicians of American Academy of Sciences, 869 professors and associate professors, 313 doctoral advisors. The student body includes 25,968 undergraduates, 459 junior college students, 4,244 masters and doctoral degree candidates. The university has carried out an open policy when running schools. International exchanges and cooperation has been enhanced, and close relations now exist between HUNAU and more than 20 foreign universities in 10 countries, HUNAU was authorized to enroll international students in 1998
